Supplies needed for a DIY sleep mask
Sleep masks are great for blocking out light and helping you get a good night’s sleep. But, if you don’t want to spend the money on a store-bought mask, you can easily make your own at home. Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
-Sleep mask
-Seam allowance
-DIY sleep mask pattern (You can find a variety of free patterns online. Just do a quick search for “DIY sleep mask pattern” or “free sleep mask pattern.”)
-Sewing machine
-Elastic (You’ll need about 12 inches.)
-Scissors
To start, cut out your fabric according to the pattern. Then, use a sewing machine to sew the two pieces of fabric together, leaving a small seam allowance. Next, cut a small opening in the fabric for the elastic. Thread the elastic through the opening, and then sew the opening closed. Finally, turn the mask right side out and stitch the elastic in place. That’s it! You now have your very own DIY sleep mask.
How to make a basic sleep mask
A sleep mask is a simple way to block out light and get the darkness you need for a good night’s sleep. You can buy one ready-made, or easily make your own with a few supplies from the sewing store. This project takes just a few minutes to complete and requires only basic sewing skills.
1. Cut two pieces of fabric in a step cut, 9″ x 4″.
2. Sew the two pieces of fabric together, right sides facing, along the 9″ edge using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Leave a 3″ opening for turning.
3. Trim the corners and turn the mask right side out through the opening. Press flat, taking care to press open the seam allowance at the opening.
4. Sew around the perimeter of the mask using a 1/8″ seam allowance, closing up the opening as you sew.
Your basic sleep mask is now complete! If you want to get fancier, there are lots of great sewing patterns available for eye masks – many of them are even free! Just do a quick search online and you’ll find tons of options. Or, if you’re feeling really creative, design your own!
Ways to customize your sleep mask
Sleep masks are a great way to get a good night’s sleep, but they can also be a pain if they don’t fit well or if they don’t provide the level of darkness you need. Luckily, there are ways to customize your sleep mask to make it work better for you.
1. Choose the right eye mask. There are many different types of eye masks on the market, so it’s important to choose one that will work well for you. If you have trouble sleeping in a bright room, look for an eye mask that blocks out all light. If you have sensitive skin, look for an eye mask made of natural materials like silk or cotton.
2. Cancel reply. Some people find that wearing an eye mask makes them feel claustrophobic or anxious. If this is the case, try cancelling reply by simply taking off the eye mask once you’re asleep. This way, you can still get all the benefits of wearing an eye mask without feeling uncomfortable.
3. Free pattern! If you’re handy with a sewing machine, there are plenty of free patterns online for making your own custom sleep mask. This is a great option if you want to be able to choose your own fabric and design something that will fit your face perfectly.
4 Affiliate advertising program . If you have a blog or website about sleep or relaxation, you can sign up for an affiliate advertising program and earn money by promoting sleep masks on your site. This is a great way to make some extra cash while helping people get a good night’s sleep!
